Ninth day out May 9 th
England - Heathrow to Capel Y Ffin (Southern Wales) 12 c
11.30 am Pickup the car and out into the countryside and little villages.
11.53am Some of the farm houses are more like villages and the stone walls look good.
11.58 am We all liked the grown over roads and the stone walls are in good condition.
12.19 The crops look really good and there are excellant rape (canaloa) crops with as you will notice no fences here 100% cropping as stock are not worth while where you can grow a good crop.
13.32 More lovely roads and an ocassional old house thrown in.
13.42 You can see many commerial wooded areas and our first experience of road work traffic lights which can keep you waiting for a while. ( you will notice red light)
13.49 Some of the spring crops are only just getting going as the winter ones look good and these deer are bigger than kangaroos but they don't hop.
14.01 Just to show I did pass a white van but this was only a small one and a small castle or church in the distance.
14.28 Looking across one the villages and here is the sign to where are going, part in welsh.
14.33 My first look at a mountain with a tree line and the 12 mile single lane road to the YHA.
15.33 Little bit more to go and here is one of the hunreds of photos of lambs the girls took.
Comments:
Philip: After picking up the car we drove to lower Wales which we were only was lost a couple of times, where once to get back on the right road Rebecca took us down a white lane on the compter map, that when straight through a farmers milking parlour but we did get to our destination.
Donna: We travelled to southern Wales, it was beautiful and they speak the Welsh language as well as English. The youth hostel was in the mountains with very steep hedges on a long single lane road into the mountains. It reminded me of our little honeymoon cottage and you do feel an atmosphere of God in the country.
Rebecca: Dad went and picked up our car and we drove to Wales where we stayed at Capel Y Ffin. We found the lanes very interesting because they were narrow and it is hard to see if other cars are coming the other way. At Capel Y Ffin the hills surrounding were very beautiful and stunning with lovely lambs below.
