Eleventh day out - May 11 th
Exeter s/w UK to Odney Club Cookham central UK 19 c
10.18 am Well it's off down the motorway for a while, traffic is good and day is looking fine. Green Hedges and fast white vans still there, a good day for being a aussie tourist.
11.02am Here's our cheeky back seat navigator. (did a good job under extreme conditions) The old houses and buildings never stop, they grow them everywhere you look.
11.43 am Some of these back laneways and short cuts were a bit suspect but we did get a close view at the farmers. Soon back on the straight and narrow heading along the ole way.
12.24 Next tourist site the white horse on the hill so lets get up there and lucheon as well.
12.32 Good views from here and it was all pure white many years ago.
12.33 The countryside is nice and the spray/fertilizer tramlines do look neat.
12.41 Many of the hills are terraced and one last look at the horse before continueing.
14.49 What are these old rocks in the paddock, better have a look here then.
15.09 Stranger the closer you look upon but still rocks in a field when viewed from a far away.
15.15 How would you carve in one rock with another when these are hard rocks not soft. If I understood correctly this flat rock was for scarficing virgins or what ever, not used much lately.
15.50 Well of course ices are standard after exercise like this and what you don't see in photos are all these earthern mini hills all around the "Stone Henge" site and down to the river below.
17.59 Landed safely at the "Odney Club" and they were off but one portrait photo first.
18.01 Very plush at the "Odney Club" really lucky to stay here, more photos later.
Comments:
Philip: Each area in UK has it's special appeal - houses, villages, roads, countryside and the people and we have only just begun to explore this new world.
Donna: We saw stone henge and nobody knows who built it but they did say it was a very accurate calendar. Odney was very relaxing and nice meals the rooms were very luxurious.
Zac was pleased to see us.
Rebecca: Today we went to see the Stone Henge which was very interesting and in the middle of no where?. We continued on and eventually got to the Odney Club where Zac works and stays. It was nice seeing Zac after 2 months and after not seeing other Australians for a couple of weeks.
