Fifteenth day out May 15 th
7.20 am London UK to Amsterdam Holland 24 c

07.51 am The first and last sight in to a country can be a Mac Donalds. Here we are at Sea France dock for the 1.5 hour ferry trip from Dover England to Calais on the French mainland

07.55 am The white cliffs of Dover are quite impressive and with the old strong holds build in along the cliffs as well, makes them interesting to look at.

09.34 am One of the other many ferries passing by and now coming into French Calias.

10.56 After exiting our boat we were soon off down the motorway to Holland.

11.38 The fields are lush, buildings still old and wind generators mixed in with the smoke stacks.

13.38 More big flats and a lot of wind generators farms.

15.10 Getting closer to holland things are more fertile and the windmills start to appear.

15.14 The canals are a source of a great transportation.

15.28 Bindings for the dyke building and fixing are stored in the farmers fields, ready for use.

16.05 Now in Amsterdam with many bike ways and bridges over the canals.

16.14 More old buildings in the city centre and even a Madame Tussaud wax display.

16.35 This is where you take a boat cruise and I think this is a previous royal palace.

17.06 Local tourist shop, where you can buy many types of smoking gear.

17.32 Couple more big buildings to finish Amsterdam and then off to the Golden Tulip hotel.

Comments:
Philip:
After leaving London by bus we travelled in the ferry to Calais then on to Holland though some appealing farming counrtyside. In Holland much travelling is done by push bikes and they have their own road system.

Donna: We nearly got lost at the Holiday Inn as there was two Holiday Inns where we were meant to meet our tour at the 2nd Inn 2 miles down the track. But we managed to get there in time and we travelled through to Holland that day seeing all the wind mills it is very flat country. The Windmill owners used to send messages by the position of the Finns to communicate with their neighbours. In the war they were a very good undercover communication system, they were too quick for the Nazis. Amsterdam was very pretty but it felt a bit dangerous and you could smell drugs every where mainly because it is legal too use. We stayed at a very Dutch Hotel that had the feel of old, like Francis Drake.

Rebecca:
Today we started our tour we drove to Dover on the bus and took the boat across to France across the channel and drove to Amsterdam in Holland through France and Belgium.
