Sixth day out May 6 th
Israel - Old city then to Bethlehem 28 c
02.50 am At night busy little ants and on the sabbath day nothing.
09.01am The wall aound the old city is very imposing.
09.10 am The city has an old look but clean and appealing.
09.18 am Don't know when these graves were used and the houses all have their own solar hot water systems on the roof, size according to how many kids.
09.21 Each name was a million dollar donator to the University and another shot at the new city ( sorry, meant picture of new city ).
09.30 Across the desert to the west and also the new border wall. (sorry, harmony fence)
09.51 Which cobbles did Jesus walk on? The entrance to the "Old City" and you can see the bullet holes to the right of the entrance, in the rock wall from pass seiges.
09.59 Inside the old city and each layer of the wall is an added height during the ages.
10.09 Remains of the old main Roman road and an old wall, how old is that?
10.28 Then we came to the shopping lanes, how much can you fit in a 4m x 2m shop.
11.22 The entrance to the "Church of Selphacher" and there is the large wall painting in the first chamber, which this is only part of.
11.40 Didn't this stream of light down on where Jesus was buried give a "divine" spotlight effect and here is the tomb where Jesus was buried.
12.46 Sales of herbs and spices in bulk plus more exotic shopping.
13.07 On the way to the wailing wall and looking down at wall.
14.18 Now in Bethlehem with a steep walk up the narrow lane and looking back down, oops what is that spilt on the road?
15.27 The entrance to the "Churh of Nativity" where Jesus was born and through the little door, as they didn't want horses in there, did they.
15.37 Some sort of cermony happening here and the first photo of the stable below this church in the rock cave.
15.53 Top and bottom view of the shrine in the stable where you pay your respects.
15.55 Another bottom view with flash and the church above where easter is televised.
16.03 Below this churh is a very sad cavern, where all the babies were killed and thrown down the hole, as they found the bones here later.
16.17 A view from the other side and then down the steps to the vans and the city beyond.
16.33 More goodies to buy.

Comments:
Philip: History is old and to think who has walked before you can be humbling.
Donna: Of went to see Jerusalem, and the walled city and also we found out we are suppose to go to Bethlehem. It was a bit a overwhelming Mount of olives and opposite was full of graves. The old walled city had 4 eras. Solomon’s road, Herod’s stones with a indent around the edges, the turks and then ottoman empire. We went through the Armenian quarter, then the Jewish quarter which had lots of birds and children telling the men we should have a kippa. The Moslem quarter was hundreds of little stores and food shops. It was getting hot. We went and prayed at the Western Wall I really felt the Holy Spirit. We went to see the Holy Sepulchre church and it was very old some of it felt authentic, I don’t think it was Jesus’ tomb. But he might have got crucified there
Bethlehem was so beautiful and we had lunch up a white alley, But the street going to the Church of Nativity I felt uneasy. But the church was overwhelming some of it was built in the 1300 and it was originally built in 600’s There was a cave underneath where they felt Jesus was born and they also found the babies bones that Herod had killed. They also felt Joseph had his vision of Angel to get out of there and Jerome wrote the bible from Hebrew to Latin. he also died there. The tourists so much fun we laughed all day.
Rebecca: We went into Jerusalem and saw the western wall and prayed there. The city was amazing and very interesting. When then went into Palestine into Bethlehem to the Nativity church, birth place of Jesus and the tunnels underneath where the man who translated the Bible from Hebrew and Greek to Latin. We then returned to our Hotel.
